2025 Praeter 'Magpie Block' chardonnayTrue boutique chardonnay from an Adelaide Hills native stepping out og his comfort zone just a little. The Southern Fleurieu is a newish GI doing interesting things with pinot noir and chardonnay. This vineyard is small, organically grown, and mature. Although young, this wine is delicious already and has a good five years of ageing to go.

Will benefit from half an hour or so in a decanter before drinking

Fire up the barbie

and fermented in stainless steel - so no oak influence here

with a long palate supported by savoury yet silky tannins

While unusual

and the youngest member (the current Roberto Sarotto) did a masters degree in wine marketing at our very own Roseworthy School in South Australia

It's also organic and biodynamic

with red berry fruit and beautifully balanced acidity

but with the attractive aromatics of its near neighbour

and although 100% varietal examples exist
