Anne & Herve Sigaut Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru 'Les Chatelots' 2017I recently looked at this wine over the course of 24 hours. My first impression was of a wine very serious in nature. By that i mean it is dark, quite full bodied (relative to Burgundy) and firmly structured. The nose shows liqueur cherry, bramble and spiced cherry notes with hints of cola and blood plum. These characters carry through onto the palate which is dense in its layers of fruit which still seem so primary and demanding of time to settle.

The cabernet influence is clear

It is a wine of exceptional complexity and elegance

Some sour sweet elements

My second favourite wine of the tasting

floral aromas that lead to bright red fruits

San Giusto A Rentannano are up there with Italy’s top growers – they are all about purity of sangiovese fruit

yet also wonderfully fresh

salted quince & a minerality screaming ALBARIZA
